32. Dreams: Freedom from Chronic Pain

.
I am a miracle seeker, floating  800px-A_float_on_the_Dead_Sea
on the Dead Sea.
Buoyant, weightless.
Gentle pressure on my sore back.
.

I am a Flying Fox, sleeping,
hanging upside down from a tree branch.
Free from tactile and contact pressure
on my painful body.
.

I am a Skylark, singingmanta-ray-1145955__180
while soaring, spiraling, gliding in the sky.
Bounced by gentle breeze
that eases my chronic pain.
.

I am a Manta Ray, gliding,
cruising, dancing in the vast blue ocean.
Silky smoothness on the skin,
feeling oneness with the water around me.
.

I am an astronaut, somersaulting,ISS-20_Koichi_Wakata_poses_in_the_Kibo_lab
rolling, floating freely, weightlessly
inside a spaceship in orbit.
No pressure on my pain-riddled body.
.

O! In perpetual orbit in space—
Not returning to Earth!
Freedom from gravity pull!
Freedom from chronic neuropathic pain!

  1. A most wonderful juxtaposition of words and images that float within the feeling of constraint and freedom within each line and across the poem.
    A poem for further reflection.

    • Thank you for your comments and support, Bob. I hope this poem helps readers to understand what chronic neuropathic pain is like and how a sufferer feels and hopes. What further reflection do you have? KK
